Tom Bancroft's Drawing Toward Illustration: Connect How You Draw with How You Illustrate course is designed to help students discover their voice as an illustrator, draw more confidently from heart, and learn how to connect how you draw more seamlessly to how you illustrate. Through a series of info-packed mini lectures and fun drawing exercises, students will learn powerful ideas and techniques that will help them use drawing more purposefully as an illustration tool. Tom will guide students through the Two Modes of Drawing, Observational Mode and Ideational Mode, and help them create a full page illustrated scene of their workspace or dream studio, with a foreground and background and lots of fun details. Those who have taken this course will be able to apply the knowledge gained to their own illustration process. They will be able to draw from heart without references, draw with more simplicity, draw full, harmonious scenes that include backgrounds, draw with more confidence, and translate their sketches into a final illustration. Additionally, they will have gained insight into the Two Modes of Drawing, Observational Mode and Ideational Mode. Finally, they will have created a full page illustrated scene of their workspace or dream studio, with a foreground and background and lots of fun details, which can be used as a portfolio piece.
