This course provides an overview of Abnormal Psychology, which is the study of abnormal human behaviors within the diversity of human behavior. Using a Biopsychosocial framework and the DSM-5, the categories of abnormal behavior are explored with explicit consideration to cultural and biological diversity. Students will gain an understanding of how physical, psychological, and social factors influence human behavior; the techniques used to identify psychological disorders; and the practical applications of treatment for abnormal behavior. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the topics covered.

After completing this course, students will be able to apply their knowledge of abnormal psychology to a variety of contexts. They will also be able to recognize the influence of physical, psychological, and social factors on human behavior.
