This course, CERTaIN: Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, provides an overview of CER/PCOR and how to overcome barriers to ensure patient-centered care. It is intended for anyone interested in CER/PCOR methods. The course consists of 11 lectures, including Engaging Patients and Stakeholders in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, Principles of Community-Based Participatory Research, Shared Decision Making in Cancer: Models and Methods, Patient Decision Support Tools in Cancer, An Overview of Patient-Reported Outcomes in Cancer, Designing Surveys: Asking Questions with a Purpose, Qualitative Methods of Research, Dissemination and Implementation Research in PCOR: Translating Knowledge Into Practice, The Role of Health Literacy in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, Cognitive Impairment and Participation in Research, and Behavioral Interventions in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research. This course is supported by grant number R25HS023214 from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to apply the knowledge and skills learned to their own research projects. They should be able to identify and address barriers to patient-centered care, design surveys and qualitative methods of research, and develop and implement patient decision support tools. Additionally, they should be able to understand the role of health literacy in PCOR, and develop and evaluate behavioral interventions in PCOR.
