Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to the French Revolution, exploring the essential elements of eighteenth-century France, the first and second estates, Paris and the provinces, and the 'enlightenment' from both above and below. Participants will gain an understanding of the causes and consequences of the French Revolution, and the impact it had on the world.
