Students will learn the history behind this popular style and then jump into their first decorative detail: cloud lifts. They will learn how to use cloud lift patterns, cut accurate shapes, smooth cut marks and more. Next, students will create elegant ebony plugs to hide screw holes or as a purely decorative element. They will also get helpful tips for cutting square mortises, using a mortise machine and achieving clean edges with punches.
In addition, students will learn how to add gorgeous detail to their tabletop with breadboard ends and decorative splines, as well as a new way to make breadboard ends with ease. They will also learn how to lighten up with pierced aprons, work with a collar on their router and remove router burns in a flash. Furthermore, students will learn how to add continuity and beauty to tables and chairs with low-leg indents, and craft flawlessly fitting finger joints. Finally, they will make and install uniquely Greene & Greene cabinetry accents, such as sculpted drawer handles.
