This course, Mindfulness in Integrative Healthcare, provides an overview of the practice of mindfulness and its potential benefits for healthcare providers and their patients or clients. Participants will learn to assess when mindfulness may be helpful, educate patients or clients about its potential benefits, and refer them to mindfulness programs and resources. The course will explore what mindfulness is (and is not) through presentations and direct experience, as well as the research supporting the benefits (and risks) of mindfulness for various conditions. Participants will also learn about the benefits of this practice for healthcare providers. Upon completion of the course, participants may be eligible for 10 contact hours of continuing education credit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing and other professional boards that allow self-documenting of continuing education activities.
